Inspirational Leader Awards 

Marc Saunders joined Splendid Hospitality in February 2020 as Group Director of Marketing and PR, responsible for the brand image and marketing campaigns across the expanding Splendid portfolio of hospitality brands. With a postgraduate degree in Marketing Management, Marc was presented with the ‘Award of Post Graduate Marketing Excellence’ in 2004.  

 

With previous roles including Head of Brand at Bella Italia, Marketing Consultant at IGD, Head of Brand at Loch Fyne Seafood & Grill and Head of Brand at Greene King, Marc brings invaluable experience and skills to Splendid, including analytical thinking, brand development and optimal creativity. In the last year alone he has worked with his team to launch the Ultimate Giraffe Experience at Hotel Indigo Edinburgh York Place in conjunction with RZSS Edinburgh Zoo and chocolate-infused breaks at Hotel Indigo York to tie in with the city’s chocolate heritage, and continues to seek out partnerships complementing the hotels in the Splendid portfolio. 

 
With the natural ability to market campaigns, Marc has been acknowledged for his inspirational creativity, delivering a consistent marketing message to a diverse estate ranging from functional 3-star branded hotels to independent five-star luxury properties. Marc was awarded ‘Most Inspirational Marketer of the Year’ sponsored by the Hotel Marketing Association (HMA) in 2021.  

 

Marc places huge value on creating the best experiences for guests that go above and beyond, working closely with integrated social media and PR campaigns to maximise awareness, resulting in increased guest satisfaction, high social media engagement and increased average room rates.
